About Me
A trained and professional copy editor, proofreader, and indexer with a special interest in academic and scholarly writing from all disciplines and of varying lengths: dissertations, capstone projects, monographs, program proposals, reports.
I also offer editorial services for other works of non-fiction—including exhibit catalogues, food and wine magazines, personal memoirs—and have worked extensively with traditional publishers of fiction for young adults and children—including graphic novels.
Professional member of Editors Canada since 2009.
Strengths include copy editing and proofreading your text with precision and style, suiting text to the needs of the reading audience, liaising between writers who deeply understand the topic and a reading audience who is (in varying degrees) less familiar with it.
Ongoing professional development includes studies in plain language principles, conscious language, instructional design.
I hold an Honours BA and an MA in English literature from Simon Fraser University, with a focus on marginalized identities, diasporic cultures, and academic writing instruction.
Currently located in Vancouver, British Columbia, though I've also lived in London, Toronto, Los Angeles, and a second city named London that is nowhere in particular.
